We believe each person that has been diagnosed with something society calls a ‘disability’ has in fact ability, strength, individual qualities and talents.
When we focus on these positives (instead of the diagnosis), then focused outcomes are possible.
Since the way we think drives the way we act, we are committed to bring about a change in society’s attitudes and perceptions.
We aim to do this through our community engagement programme ‘Shared Experiences’; delivering disability awareness training, working closely with external agencies and promoting a positive image of disability.
We also believe the inclusion of people with disabilities into communities can best be accomplished when they move from being a ‘client’ to being classed as a ‘citizen’; moving away from dependence on special services and beginning to access generic services in the community with the support of Purple Patch’s staff.
